PM Modi to chair NDA CMs’ conclave in Chandigarh tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a national conclave of all chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of the ruling National Democratic Alliance in Chandigarh on Thursday.

The BJP on Wednesday said the conclave would deliberate on issues of national development and also discuss the 50th anniversary of the 1975 Emergency, imposed by former PM Indira Gandhi.

“Almost all 20 chief ministers of the NDA and their deputies will be engaging in a half-day conclave, the first of its kind after many years, being held in Chandigarh. PM Narendra Modi will be present all through the meeting and will guide the proceedings,” the BJP said.

The party said BJP president JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu and Nagaland CM Nephew Rio would also lead the discussions.

The proceedings of the CM Conclave will start immediately after the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini.

There are in all 13 CMs and 16 deputy CMs belonging to the BJP whereas Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, Nagaland and Meghalaya are ruled by the NDA partners of the BJP.

“Deliberations in this meeting will cover a structured agenda covering national development issues. It will also discuss subjects like observance of ‘Sanvidhan Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ and the Year of 50th anniversary of the attempt to murder democracy,” the BJP said.
