Washington: After President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the election, the door to become the Democratic candidate in the presidential election has opened for many contenders. President Biden has given his support to Vice President Kamala Harris as the party candidate. Apart from Biden, many other prominent Democratic leaders have also come forward in favor of Harris’s candidacy. But, it is not clear how easy her path to candidacy in the party will be. Kamala Harris
Born in Oakland, California, Vice President Kamala Harris considers late civil rights lawyer and jurist Thurgood Marshall as her inspiration and often mentions the influence of her parents who were associated with the civil rights movement on her life. Los Angeles lawyer Douglas Emhoff is Kamala Harris’s husband. Biden called Harris a “fearless warrior” when he chose her as his vice presidential candidate in 2020. Kamala has been serving as Vice President since January 2021. She is the first woman, first black and first citizen of South Asian origin in America to hold this post. Harris (59) won her seat in the US Senate in 2016 after being elected Attorney General of California twice.

Gavin Newsom
California Governor Gavin Newsom is a San Francisco native who joined politics in 1995 as a volunteer in Willie Brown’s campaign for mayor.
