‘Victory and defeat are the hallmarks of democracy’, Rahul Gandhi writes a letter to former UK PM Rishi Sunak

In a letter to Sunak, Rahul Gandhi expressed condolences on his party’s defeat and also praised the strong relations between India and Britain during his tenure.

New Delhi- Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has praised UK Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak on his recent electoral defeat, saying that victory and defeat are inevitable parts of democracy and “we must take both with us”.

In his letter to Mr Sunak, Rahul Gandhi praised the former British Prime Minister’s dedication to public service and commitment to the British people.

Rahul Gandhi also wrote to former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, wishing him all the best for the future and said that victory and defeat are inevitable parts of democracy and both must be accepted happily.

In a letter to Sunak, he said, “Victory and defeat are important parts of the journey of democracy… Your dedication to public service and the common people is commendable. I consider the efforts you made to strengthen India-UK relations as Prime Minister important. I hope you will continue to serve the public with your experience.”

In a letter to Sunak, Rahul Gandhi expressed condolences on his party’s defeat as well as praised him for the strong India-UK relations during his tenure.

On Friday, Keir Starmer became the new Prime Minister of Britain and vowed to rebuild Britain, just hours after his Labor Party won a landslide victory in the general election. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to the new PM of Britain. He wrote in the letter – Congratulations for the historic victory.

The Labor Party won 412 seats in the 650-member House of Commons, 211 more than the 2019 elections. The Congress leader said that the Labor Party’s victory is a symbol of the power of politics that puts the common people first. He said that he is hopeful about the continued strengthening of bilateral relations. Rahul Gandhi has also expressed his eagerness to meet the British Prime Minister in the near future.(source-ndtv)
