Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Citadel’ season 2 DELAYED to 2026; Samantha and Varun Dhawan’s spinoff ‘Honey Bunny’ put on HOLD |

The spy series Citadel, executive-produced by Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO, has hit a major setback. The second season of the action-packed show has been delayed from its original fall 2025 release to spring 2026, a report on The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The decision to push the release comes amid claims that Amazon MGM is ‘unhappy with what they have seen so far of season two’. While the studio has not officially commented, insiders suggest that the delay is to allow more time for creative adjustments.
The report further alleges that the development of all spinoff series of the ambitious franchise is currently on hold. The Citadel franchise was conceived as a global storytelling experiment, with the English-language series starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas as elite spies. The franchises expanded with international spinoffs tailored to cater to specific regions, like Citadel: Diana for Italy and Citadel: Honey Bunny for India. While both the regional releases have performed well in their respective markets, their fate allegedly lies in the success of Citadel Season 2.
Production on Citadel season 2 wrapped in late November 2024, with Priyanka and Richard seen shooting portions of the series around the UK. However, with the latest delay, fans will have to wait until 2026 to see how the next chapter unfolds.
Reports previously stated that the Russo Brothers’ involvement in Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, prompted them to accelerate their work on the spy series. The Marvel superhero film which will bring back Robert Downey Jr, with a host of other returning heroes, is slated for its release on May 1, 2026. Their follow-up film ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is slated for a release on May 7, 2027. With the director-duo busy with their multi-million dollar film franchise, it remains to be seen when they will squeeze in time for the spy series.
