Rajat Patidar on pressure of captaining RCB: Don’t feel it while batting-OxBig News Network

Rajat Patidar said that he doesn’t feel the pressure of captaincy while batting. Patidar took over from Faf du Plessis as the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. Under his leadership, RCB have won three out of five matches and are placed fifth in the table with a net run rate of +0.539.

Having already won three away matches, Patidar will be looking to fetch RCB their fourth win on the road when they face the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, April 13 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Patidar said that he stays focussed on his strengths as a batter rather than letting the responsibilities of captaincy affect him.

“I see myself as captain when I’m on the field, but when I’m batting, I don’t feel the pressure of being a captain. I focus on my strengths with the bat and avoid feeling like I have to do something different just because I am leading the team. Even in domestic cricket, I try to stay in the moment and do my best for the team,” Patidar said in the pre-match press conference.

‘One game at a time’

RCB will sport their signature green jersey once again, a yearly tradition that highlights their commitment to environmental awareness and reinforces their identity as a carbon-neutral team. While sounding excited to don the jersey, Patidar also talked about focussing on ‘one game at a time’ in the tournament.

“We take it one game at a time. If everyone is confident, we look to make the most of it. We’ll focus on playing good cricket, not focus on which venue it is. It’s a special game for us with our green initiative, and wearing the green jersey makes it even more special and exciting,” Patidar added.

RCB will look to make amends after losing to the Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets in their previous game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
