Ram Charan’s Game Changer crosses US $ 2 million mark in North America, but faces loss ahead

Post the success of Allu Arjun- Rashmika Mandanna and Sukumar’s Pushpa 2 – The Rule, all eyes were on Ram Charan and Shankar’s combination with Game Changer to take Telugu Cinema to new heights. But the political thriller couldn’t connect with the masses in a big way, and also coupled with huge acquisition cost, the film is all set to register a huge loss for distributors in North America which has become the biggest market for Telugu films outside of India.

Within 2 days of its release, Game Changer with its huge premiere day and first day collection, had crossed US $ 1.5 million mark, but it took the film another 7 days to break the US $ 2 million, which it finally did late Friday night . On Saturday the film added about US $ 28,000 to its kitty. But the film’s breakeven point has been pegged at US $ 4.5 million, and going by the current trends its lifetime collection will limit itself ot US $ 2.2 million, thus recording a loss of at least 50 %.

Ram Charan is back on the big screen with Shankar’s Game Changer, after the Oscar winning RRR with S S Rajamouli and NTR Jr.The film was an extremely important film for him and for director Shankar, who last delivered Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan , which bombed at the box office.

The response to Game Changer will directly impact the release of Indian 3 which as per reports is expected to drop directly on OTT. On the other hand, Ram Charan will now move on to his next film with Janhvi Kapoor which is to be directed by Buchi Babu.
