Saif Ali Khan’s attacker related to one of helps, say Mumbai Police

The Mumbai Police on Thursday said that the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan happened at around 2.30 am in his home on Thursday, adding that the CCTV footage from two hours before the attack did not show any person entering his housing society.

Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an unknown person and is currently admitted at Lilavati Hospital.

A surgery has been conducted on him.

Hospital authorities have reported that the 54-year-old actor’s condition is stable and a full assessment of his injuries will follow once all surgical procedures are completed.

The actor sustained six stabs, including two deep cuts on his back and one close to his spine.

According to Mumbai police, prima facie it appeared that attacker was allegedly related to one of the domestic helps who allowed him entry into the house.

The domestic help is being questioned by police. The accused was locked in one of the rooms, but managed to escape from there, reports The Indian Express.

At the time of the incident, Khan along with his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and his kids were asleep.

His wife and the kids are said to be safe.

So far, theft is the suspected motive behind the crime. Teams of forensic officers visited the crime scene and collected samples. A sniffer dog team of the city police also reached the spot and inspected the crime scene.
