Security guard injured as BBMP park gate collapses-OxBig News Network

In yet another such incident, a 40-year-old security guard sustained injuries after a gate fell on him at Tulsi Tota Park near Majestic on Thursday. The guard who sustained minor head injuries was treated at a nearby private hospital after he was rushed there by the locals. A senior BBMP official said the injured was treated as an outpatient and is now home.

The injured identified as Prabhakar was opening the gate in the afternoon hours around 3 pm to allow an auto tipper into the park to collect waste and the gate fell when he was opening it. The official said the BBMP has ordered a probe into the incident. The injured is a resident of Srirampura

It may be recalled that in September, an 11-year-old boy was killed after a gate fell on him at Raja Shankar Park also known as Kulla Park in Malleshwaram. The boy was playing at the park when the incident occurred. The BBMP later fixed the gate.

The BBMP official said in the Tulsi Tota park, clamps and hooks of the gate were damaged when a tree branch fell on the gate about a few months back. However, this was not brought to the notice of the BBMP. The official said BBMP Special Commissioner (Horticulture), Preeti Gehlot has directed the officials to submit a comprehensive report on the same.
