Australian Open Day 5 Updates

Tristan Schoolkate was dominant in the opening set, converting the only break point chance he got. Most importantly, the Australian did not give Sinner a single opportunity to break his serve. Sinner also looked tentative with his second serves, winning only 36 per cent points and making three double faults.

From the second set onwards, there was no stopping Sinner, who won five break points. Schoolkate did not get a single chance to break his opponent’s serve. The World No.1 kept putting pressure on his opponent with some aggressive tennis and eventually had the last laugh.

Sinner racked up his ninth consecutive win at the Australian Open and won 32 out of his last 33 sets. After winning his second-round match, Sinner said that he still has room for improvement. He also talked about playing with the pressure of defending his title at Melbourne Park.

“It’s definitely a different feeling. So many beautiful moments on and off the court happened for me here in this beautiful place. I take it as a chance to hopefully do it again. But it’s still a very long way to go. We go day by day. Seeing my level today, we know I can improve. Hopefully I can show this in the next round and it’s gonna be a great tournament for me again,” Sinner said in the on-court interview.

Sinner will next be up against USA’s Marcus Giron, who defeated Tomas Matin Etcheverry 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.
