Emotions took over the scene in the post-match interview as Amanda Anisimova walked up to the mic after losing the Wimbledon 2025 final on Saturday, July 12. Anisimova was beaten by the unplayable Iga Swiatek, who raced to her maiden Wimbledon win in a contest that lasted just 57 minutes.

Swiatek served a double bagel (6-0, 6-0) to Anisimova, who had beaten top seed Aryna Sabalenka to reach the final. Anisimova broke into tears throughout her interview and said that she had wanted to put on a better performance in the final. In a classy gesture, despite being overwhelmed by emotion, Anisimova called Swiatek an incredible player and congratulated her on winning her maiden Wimbledon title.

“You’re such an incredible player. It obviously showed today. You’ve been such an inspiration to me. An unbelievable athlete. You’ve had such an incredible two weeks here. Getting to the final of your first Wimbledon and winning the championship – it’s so special. Congratulations to you and your team,” Anisimova said after the match.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me since my first-round match here. It’s been such an incredible atmosphere. You guys have carried me through this entire championship. Even though I ran out of gas a bit today and I wish I could have put on a better performance for all of you, you’ve still been there for me and lifted me up today. Thank you so much,” she added.

Classy Wimbledon Crowd Shows Support

In a classy gesture, the crowd at the Centre Court made sure that they cheered for the US star whenever she stuttered while getting words out of her mouth.

Anisimova broke into tears for the second time when she looked at her mother. She thanked her for supporting her through the difficult moments of her life and for coming to Wimbledon despite her busy schedule.

“My mom has put in more work than I have, honestly. My mom is the most selfless person I know. She’s done everything to get me to this point,” she concluded her speech.

On Saturday, Iga Swiatek’s long-awaited Wimbledon triumph finally arrived. Swiatek, in stunning fashion, destroyed Anisimova in a dominant victory at Centre Court.

The win marked Swiatek’s first Wimbledon title, her maiden triumph on grass, and her first Grand Slam title since completing a hat-trick of French Open wins last year. Remarkably, it was also the first time in the Open Era that a player failed to win a single game in a Wimbledon singles final – men’s or women’s.
