Captain MS Dhoni can pull out his magic and make CSK qualify: Ambati Rayudu-OxBig News Network

Ambati Rayudu said that he is very excited to see MS Dhoni return as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings ahead of their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, April 11. Dhoni will take over as the skipper of CSK as Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the rest of the competition due to a fractured elbow.

The decision was announced by CSK coach Stephen Fleming during the press conference on Thursday and Dhoni will be at the helm for the rest of the campaign. Rayudu, while talking to ESPN Cricinfo, first said it is sad to see Ruturaj ruled out of the competition. The former CSK batter said that the Chennai fans will be extremely excited to see Dhoni back at the helm.

Rayudu feels that Dhoni can produce his magic and make CSK qualify for the playoffs from here. The former Indian cricketer feels that it will be a great story.

“First of all, it’s very sad that Ruturaj, the captain of CSK has been ruled out of the IPL. But all the fans will definitely will be extremely excited to see MS Dhoni lead CSK again. He can always pull out his magic and make CSK qualify from here. It will be one great story. So, I am very, very excited and I just hope that he weaves his magic all over the CSK team,” said Rayudu.

‘Expect a few changes’

Robin Uthappa, another former CSK player, commented on Dhoni coming back to captaincy. Uthappa said that Dhoni has stayed in the background to allow Fleming and Ruturaj to build their chemistry. Uthappa feels that there might be a few changes to the CSK team in the next few days.

“He is going take control at the helm again. He stayed in the background completely and allowed Fleming and Ruturaj to kind of build their chemistry. Now he comes back to the fore. You will see a few changes I suspect in the next couple of days and the game against KKR,” said Uthappa.

Dhoni’s last game as CSK captain was during the IPL 2023 final. CSK have just one win in 5 matches and lost their last 4 games on the trot.
