South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has clarified that his decision to withdraw from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 to join Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was purely a career-based decision and not meant to disrespect the PSL. Bosch explained that the opportunity to play for Mumbai Indians presented a significant boost for his professional growth, given the franchise’s global stature and influence in world cricket.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly evaluating Bosch’s reasoning and may consider imposing a ban depending on their review of the situation.

This marks the first time since the PSL’s inception in 2016 that its schedule will overlap with the IPL. Bosch had initially signed with Peshawar Zalmi in the Diamond category for the PSL 2025 season. However, he opted to join Mumbai Indians as a replacement for the injured Lizaad Williams, explaining that the exposure and professional growth associated with Mumbai Indians made it a strategic career move.

Bosch was part of the MI Cape Town side that secured the SA20 title earlier this year. He played a crucial role in the campaign, taking 11 wickets and contributing with the bat when needed. His consistent performances earned him recognition, leading to his international debut for South Africa in 2024.

The PSL’s schedule shift resulted from Pakistan’s international commitments and the Champions Trophy, which forced the league to move from its usual February-March window to April-May. This adjustment created a direct clash with the IPL, leading to complications for some players.

Now whether Bosch will face a ban from PSL for his actions or will be given a subtle punishment for his actions remains to be seen.
