Star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has hinted at playing more Test matches in the England series than originally planned. Bumrah, who had said earlier that he was going to play only 3 of the 5 Tests to manage his workload, said that his body is feeling much fresher in the cold conditions of England.
The leader of the pace attack took it upon himself to wreck the England batting line-up at Headingley. Bumrah picked up 5 wickets for 83 runs, while the rest of the bowling line-up gave away 382 runs for the other five wickets.
“It is feeling good. It is a little bit colder here than India. I am feeling fresh and good, so hopefully good things will follow,” Jasprit Bumrah told BBC at the end of Day 3’s play.

India’s Poor Day 3 in 1st Test
India did not have a good outing on the moving day of the Test match, dropping catches and leaking a lot of runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped several catches over the course of two days of play, which frustrated the Indian line-up.
Bumrah put an arm around the youngster after the day’s play and said that no one dropped catches on purpose, and the cold England weather made it difficult to grab hold of the ball.
“I like to enjoy my time on the field, so I always smile. Nobody is dropping catches purposefully, and sometimes the cold makes it difficult to catch. I try not to let it affect me and move forward quickly,” Bumrah said after Day 3’s play.
India struggled to hit the correct lines and lengths throughout Days 2 and 3 in the Test match. They got a lucky break with Ollie Pope at the start of the third day, and then were able to force a false shot out of Harry Brook at 99.
But the visitors were not able to stop the flow of runs as they saw England march to 465, 6 runs short of India’s massive first innings total of 472 runs. Prasidh Krishna, playing his first Test in England, leaked runs at 6.4. Experienced Shardul Thakur did not fare better, leaking runs at 6.33 per over.
Bumrah once again backed his teammates, arguing that the India line-up was going through a transition period.
“We are heading towards a transition with our bowlers, some are playing here for the first time. Sometimes new bowlers take time to adjust, but we share the experience and people will slowly learn. At this moment, our aim is to put on as many runs as we can,” the fast bowler concluded.
