IPL 2025: CSK make big changes vs RR after disastrous loss to RCB-OxBig News Network

Chennai Super Kings have made two significant changes to their Playing XI for the IPL 2025 clash against Rajasthan Royals on March 30. Jamie Overton replaces Sam Curran, while Vijay Shankar comes in for the out-of-form Deepak Hooda. While Hooda had lacked firepower with the bat in CSK’s last two matches against Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru -scoring 3 and 4 respectively- Curran’s impact had also been negligible.

Following their disappointing loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, CSK aim to bounce back at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side looks to recover from their first defeat to RCB at Chepauk since 2008. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals, captained by Riyan Parag, are still in search of their first victory this season. Despite back-to-back losses against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, they have retained their previous Playing XI, showing faith in their squad.

IPL 2025, RR vs CSK: Score and updates

CSK’s performance against RCB raised eyebrows, particularly with MS Dhoni batting at No. 9 when the required rate was over 15 runs per over. The lack of cohesion in both batting and bowling was evident, with only Noor Ahmed showing some promise. Matheesha Pathirana bowled an economical 19th over but by then, RCB had already piled up 176 runs, causing irreparable damage.

In contrast, Rajasthan Royals have looked equally unsettled, surprising for a team coached by Rahul Dravid. Conceding 286 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad and managing just 151 against Kolkata Knight Riders shows their inconsistency. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag’s lack of form has put immense pressure on Sanju Samson, while Nitish Rana has struggled to make an impact.

Rajasthan Royals Playing XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag(c), Dhruv Jurel(w), Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Sandeep Sharma, Tushar Deshpande

Chennai Super Kings Playing XI: Rachin Ravindra, Rahul Tripathi, Ruturaj Gaikwad(c), Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni(w), Jamie Overton, Ravichandran Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Matheesha Pathirana, Khaleel Ahmed

Both teams have their issues to resolve, but CSK’s tactical adjustments might give them an edge. Rajasthan must find their rhythm quickly if they are to break their losing streak.
