SunRisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings got their campaigns off to a rocking start in IPL 2025. SunRisers continued from where they left last season, pushing the boundaries of big-hitting and posting 286 in their opening match against Rajasthan Royals. By virtue of a superior Net Run Rate, they are on top of the points table after the first round of matches, which concluded with Punjab Kings’s win over Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on March 25.

Punjab Kings flaunted their new energy, smashing 243 on the back of a sensational 42-ball 97 from captain Shreyas Iyer. Gujarat Titans fell short of the target despite a solid effort from Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler. Vijaykumar Vyshak delivered as an impact substitute, bowling tidy overs at the death and stifling Gujarat’s momentum. In the end, Punjab won by 11 runs.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Kolkata Knight Riders on the opening day of the IPL 2025 in Kolkata. The defending champions, led by Ajinkya Rahane, came up with a limp effort. Meanwhile, in the season’s first El Clasico, Chennai Super Kings rode on a spin-bowling masterclass from Noor Ahmed and fifties from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra to beat Mumbai Indians comfortably in Chennai.

Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel and coached By Hemang Badani, got their campaign off to a winning start after securing a last-over thriller against Rishabh Pant’s Lucknow Super Giants on March 24. Ashutosh Sharma emerged the hero for Delhi Capitals with a blistering 31-ball 66 not out as Delhi chased 210 to open the account.
