IPL 2025: Ravindra Jadeja fails after promotion to number four, gets out for 7-OxBig News Network

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja failed on his promotion at number four against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday, April 14 at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Jadeja walked out to bat following the dismissal of Rachin Ravindra in the eighth over as CSK were 74/2.

However, the southpaw failed to get his innings going as he couldn’t find the gaps in the field. With the required run rate climbing, Jadeja went for a big shot against Ravi Bishnoi, trying to hit him over long on for a six. Much to his dismay, he ended up finding Aiden Markram on the boundary and was dismissed for 7 (11).

It was the 14^th time that Jadeja was batting at number four in his IPL career, with the last occasion coming against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the previous season. He averages 30.90 batting at number four and has a solitary half-century to his name, which coincidentally, came against LSG in the last season.

Earlier in the day, Jadeja had a good outing with the ball, as he managed to scalp two wickets. He first shattered Mitchell Marsh’s stumps on 30 (25). The left-arm spinner further dismissed Ayush Badoni for 22 (17), getting him out stumped. As a result, he finished with figures of 2/24 in three overs as it was the first time after 17 innings that he managed to take two wickets in T20 cricket.

Meanwhile, CSK got off to a good start, chasing the target of 167 as debutant Shaik Rasheed played a quickfire cameo of 27 (19). The 20-year-old showed no qualms whatsoever on his maiden outing in the T20 extravaganza as he smashed six fours. He added 52 runs off 29 balls for the first wicket with Rachin Ravindra before being dismissed by Avesh Khan.
