The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter reached the milestone during their IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Kohli, who has been with RCB since the inaugural IPL season in 2008, needed just 24 runs heading into the game and got there with ease as his side made a solid start in their pursuit of the 228-run target. The 9,000-run tally includes 8,579 runs in the IPL and 424 in the now-defunct Champions League T20 (CLT20), all for RCB.

While his IPL numbers are well known-he remains the leading run-scorer in the tournament’s history-Kohli also left his mark in the CLT20. In 15 matches for RCB, he scored 424 runs at an average of 38.54 and a strike rate of 150.35, with two half-centuries. His highest score in the tournament was an unbeaten 84, and he remains RCB’s top scorer in that competition as well.

This milestone reflects more than just longevity. Kohli has been a constant presence in the RCB lineup for 17 seasons, a rare feat in a league known for frequent team changes.
