India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has addressed whether Jasprit Bumrah will feature in the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester. With India trailing 1-2 in the series, ten Doeschate acknowledged that the team is eager to include the pace spearhead, given the high stakes.
Bumrah played the opening Test in Leeds, claiming a five-wicket haul in the first innings. He was then rested for the second Test at Edgbaston as part of workload management. Returning for the third Test at Lord’s, Bumrah once again impressed with another five-wicket haul in the first innings.
On Thursday, India had a training session at the County Ground in Beckenham before leaving for Manchester for the penultimate game of the five-match series.
Speaking to the reporters in Beckenham, Ten Doeschate told the reporters, “Bumrah, we will take a call in Manchester, still we know we’ve got him for the last time. We all know it’s pretty obvious with the series on the line in Manchester, so there’s a leaning to play him there in Manchester.”
Bumrah is currently the second-highest wicket-taker in the series, with 12 wickets in four innings at an average of 28.09.
