Mitchell Starc engages in ‘IPL banter’ with Indian fans during menacing spell in Adelaide-OxBig News Network

Star Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc was seen getting involved in a banter with Indian fans during Day 1 of the second Test on Friday, December 6 at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. Notably, Starc was seen in imperious form during the day as he picked his 15^th five wicket haul in Test cricket.

In between his spells, as the Australia speedster went to field on the boundary he was greeted by a bunch of Indian fans with KKR chants. In a viral video, Starc was welcomed with “Starcy loves IPL” chants by the fans. Later ahead in the video, the chants turned to ‘KKR’ as the Australia star also made a gesture with his hands about money. Starc was recently bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) for Rs 11.75 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Earlier, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first as they made three changes in their playing XI with Rohit, Shubman Gill and Ravichandran Ashwin coming into the team. India got off to the worst possible start as Starc dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal on the very first ball of the match getting him out lbw.

After the early blow, KL Rahul (37) and Shubman Gill (31) weathered the storm by adding 69 runs for the second wicket until Starc brought Australia back in the game with quick wickets of Rahul and Virat Kohli (7). At the other end, Boland also got rid of Gill and Rohit (3) getting them both out lbw, while Pat Cummins got the big wicket of Rishabh Pant after surprising him with a short delivery.

With India on 109/6, Ravichandran Ashwin (22) played some shots until being cleaned by Starc with an in-swinging yorker who also dismissed Harshit Rana (0) in the same manner. As a result, Starc ended up picking his 15th five wicket haul of Test career. He eventually finished with figures of 6/48 in 14.1 overs after dismissing Nitish Kumar Reddy (42) as the last wicket of the innings.
