Captain Shubman Gill continued his prolific run in England, becoming the first Asian skipper to score a Test double hundred on English soil — and across SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) conditions—during the Edgbaston Test. The right-hander came into the series under considerable pressure, averaging just 25.7 in SENA with only two half-centuries to his name. But cometh the hour, cometh the best version of Gill. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja played a composed and impressive knock on Day 2, scoring 89 before falling just 11 runs short of what could have been his second century at Edgbaston. Having already notched a hundred at this venue, another would have made him the first Indian to register multiple Test centuries at Edgbaston.
