India all-rounder Deepti Sharma has pulled out of the upcoming season of The Hundred in England due to workload management ahead of a packed international calendar leading up to the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup in September 2025. Her decision means that no Indian players will feature in this year’s edition of the tournament.

Deepti was a key figure in London Spirit’s victorious campaign in 2024, where she played a starring role with both bat and ball. She amassed 212 runs and picked up eight wickets in eight matches, finishing as the highest-ranked Spirit player in the MVP standings. Most memorably, she hit the winning six over long-on to secure the team’s maiden The Hundred title.

In a statement on Tuesday, July 8, the franchise acknowledged her contribution. “Deepti will always have a special place in Spirit history, having produced the team’s most iconic moment when she struck the ball over long-on for six to secure our first The Hundred title last summer,” London Spirit said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“She starred with bat and ball throughout the tournament… We hope to be able to welcome her back to Lord’s in future years,” the statement added.

To fill the void left by Deepti, the franchise has signed Australian batting all-rounder Charli Knott. The 21-year-old, who previously played for Southern Brave in The Hundred and represents Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League, is set to make her mark in the Spirit colours.

“I can’t wait to take the field with the London Spirit this year. Having experienced the excitement The Hundred has to offer during my short stint last year, I am very much looking forward to playing again this year,” Knott said.

London Spirit will open their campaign on August 5 against Oval Invincibles at Lord’s. The team will be aiming to defend their title and become only the second side after the Invincibles to win back-to-back championships in the women’s competition.
