Down and out of the match at 65/5 in the 7th over, Delhi rode on two incredible innings from the two batters to chase down a target of 210 runs.

Ashutosh Sharma hit a six in the third ball of the final over to take DC over the line, with just a single wicket in hand. There was plenty of drama on the offer as the side kept losing wickets throughout the game. Ashutosh held one end but was not able to cut loose early in his innings.

Pietersen and Badani’s joy knew no bounds as DC got over the line with just one wicket in hand.

Senior batter and vice captain Faf du Plessis lauded the two Indian batters for their effortless hitting. He reminded the broadcaster that the pitch was tricky to bat on, with several balls gripping on the surface.

“My old brain told me that you are never out of the game and the extra batter makes so much difference. As an overseas player, it sutns me to se that so many Indian players can strike it so big.
