Legendary India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was seen dancing following India’s Champions Trophy 2025 triumph. The Men in Blue beat New Zealand by four wickets in the final of the tournament on Sunday, March 9 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India chased down the target of 252 runs in the penultimate over as Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning runs to take the team over the line.

As team India lifted their third Champions Trophy title, Sunil Gavaskar was seen jumping with joy and dancing adorably, a moment which has become a hit on social media. The legendary batter brought out his inner child and was seen jubilantly dancing to celebrate India’s historic achievement. Seeing Gavaskar dance, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh mentioned how his contributions to Indian cricket inspired generations to play the game.

“He shouldn’t stop, why should he stop? It’s great to see him like this. These are the legends of our country, they are our veterans. We’re here because of them only because when they started playing and took the team to several historic moments which inspired us to play this game. We’re lucky that we could win those trophies and he’s living that moment again that India have won a trophy,” said Harbhajan Singh on Star Sports.

Coming back to the match, India captain Rohit Sharma led his team from the front in the final, playing a match-winning innings of 76 (83), smashing seven fours and three sixes. He got off the mark on the second delivery itself smashing Kyle Jamieson for a six with his trademark pull shot. He brought up his half-century off 41 balls, which was co-incidentally his maiden fifty in an ICC tournament final.

Following his dismissal, things got tense as India were reduced to 122/3 in 26.1 overs. However, Shreyas Iyer (48 off 62) and Axar Patel (29 off 40) stitched a crucial 61-run stand for the fourth wicket to stabilise the innings. After the duo got out, KL Rahul (34* off 33), Hardik Pandya (18 off 18) and Ravindra Jadeja (9 off 6) took India over the finishing line in 49 overs, successfully chasing down the target of 252.
