Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was seen wearing a new set of gloves during practice ahead of their opening fixture against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, March 23 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. In a video shared by Mumbai Indians on their Instagram handle, Rohit was seen wearing new gloves with ‘SAR’ written on it.

The post led to fans wondering what could ‘SAR’ possibly mean. Some people managed to decode the acronym which had the first letters of Rohit’s daughter Samaira, son Ahaan and wife Ritika. One fan even commented ‘SAR = family’ and got a reply from MI’s official account which wrote ‘Always’.

Meanwhile, Rohit will return to T20 cricket for the first time after leading India to T20 World Cup 2024 victory in June. The opening batter announced his retirement following India’s triumph and hence his comeback to the T20s is much awaited.

Rohit had a good season in the previous edition as he scored over 400 runs for the first time since 2019. The opening batter played without any burden of captaincy for the first time since 2012 and scored 417 runs from 14 innings at an average of 32.07 with one hundred and one fifty to his name.

MI fans will hope that Rohit continues to get them off to fiery starts in the upcoming season as well, as he batted at a strike rate of 150 in the previous edition, his best ever in an IPL season.
