Will Jacks returns in England squad for white-ball series vs West Indies-OxBig News Network

The England Cricket team announced their squad for the white-ball series against West Indies on Tuesday, May 13 as Will Jacks marked his return to the national side. The two teams are all set to play three ODIs and as many T20Is beginning from May 29 at Edgbaston. The series will mark the beginning of Harry Brook’s captaincy tenure who takes over the leadership duties from Jos Buttler after England’s winless run in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Liam Dawson marks his return to the T20I side for the first time since September 2022. The all-rounder has scored 57 runs and scalped six in the format from 11 matches. Left-arm seamer Luke Wood also made his return to T20Is, having last featured in the team in September 2023.

On the other hand, Will Jacks marks his return in both ODI and T20I squads after missing the India tour and the Champions Trophy earlier this year. Spinner Tom Hartley also marks his return to ODIs, having last represented the country in the format against Ireland in September 2023.

Meanwhile, Brook will have a herculean task of changing England’s fortunes, especially in ODI cricket. The Three Lions have slipped to the eighth spot in the latest rankings updates, having just won three out of 14 ODIs between May 4, 2024 – May 5, 2025. The 2019 World Cup winners are also at the risk of not being able to earn a direct qualification for the next World Cup in 2027.

Hence, England desperately need to make a quick turnaround and the upcoming series could well begin their new era in the limited overs format under Brook’s leadership. England will play three ODIs against England beginning from May 29 followed by three T20Is starting from June 6.
