WPL 2025: Ayushmann Khurana, Madhubanti Bagchi to light up opening day-OxBig News Network

Ayushmann Khurana, Madhubanti Bagchi will perform in the mid-innings break on the opening day of Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, when defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Giants (GG) will lock horns at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

Ayushmann Khurrana, known for his versatile acting and melodious singing, has carved a reputation for himself in the Indian entertainment industry. His musical talents, showed in various films and independent tracks, have further solidified his popularity.

Bagchi, a disciple of the Agra Gharana, is renowned for her proficiency in Hindustani classical music, pop, and playback singing. Having collaborated with prominent composers like Amit Trividi and Pritam, she has lent her voice to numerous Indian films, earning recognition for her versatility and emotive renditions.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Madhubanti Bagchi have also performed a duet when they sang Ek Boond from the movie Doctor G, a movie which released back in October 2022.

Can RCB defend their WPL title?

Other than Ayushmann Khurrana and Madhubanti Bagchi’s performance, the focus will also be on RCB, who won the title last season, but are a tad unsettled going into the 2025 season. Four of their key player, Sophie Molineux, Sophie Devine, Kate Cross and Asha Sobhana won’t be there for them.

Instead, the Challengers have Kim Garth, Charlie Dean, Heather Graham and Nuzhat Parween as their replacements. RCB also traded in England’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge before the auction from the UP Warriorz.

Mumbai Indians (MI) won the title in 2023 under Harmanpreet Kaur’s captaincy, but couldn’t make their way through to the final last season. Delhi Capitals (DC) finished atop of the points table both seasons, but fell short at the final hurdle, finishing as the runners-up.

The Warriorz have Deepti Sharma as their new skipper after Alyssa Healy opted out of the tournament. The Giants also named Ash Gardner as their skipper, replacing Beth Mooney.
