Tanker overturns on bypass road of twin cities-OxBig News Network

A tanker carrying ethanol overturned after a collision with a transport vehicle on Hubballi-Dharwad Bypass Road on Wednesday leading to traffic congestion and diversion of vehicles.

As ethanol, which is also used as an additive to automobile fuel, spilled on the road, there was tension in the area for some time.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel quickly rushed to the spot and initiated preventive measures to avoid an untoward incident.

Due to the accident, vehicles piled up for over 3 km on the bypass road, where expansion work is under way.

Using a crane, the tanker was moved to a side and the road was opened for traffic after a while.

According to the police, the tanker driver was reportedly in an inebriated condition when the accident happened. He has suffered minor injuries.
