Social media outage: Facebook, Instagram go down – The Tribune-OxBig News Network

In a major social media outage on Tuesday, hundreds of users have reported difficulties accessing core features of Meta’s Facebook and Instagram.

According to Downdetector, an independent outage tracking website, users’ complaints with both platforms began around 9 am ET. Users, especially in the US, reported that even though their stories and pictures have comments, they weren’t able to view any of them. Some users could see the comments but these would vanish when they clicked on it. Facebook users have reported that they can’t even log in to the platform.

The cause of the outage remains unknown, and it is yet to be determined when full functionality of these applications will be restored.

The problems have affected users throughout the US, with social media users from the east coast to the west all encountering similar technical issues since morning.

At present, Meta has not issued an official statement addressing the disruption, leaving users frustrated.
