Telangana Govt must apologise for misleading House on debts: Kavitha-OxBig News Network

Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha

Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has alleged that the Telangana government has misled people on the State debts and their lies were exposed in the debate in the Council and the Assembly.

Speaking to reporters at the Legislative Council along with other BRS MLCs, she said the government should apologise to the people as this was a serious issue and the sanctity of the House itself.

Ms. Kavitha argued that the Central government in its report in Parliament made it clear that Telangana’s outstanding debt stood at ₹4.42 lakh crore at the end of the current fiscal year [2024-25]. But the government and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had been giving false figures of debts of more than ₹8 lakh crore.

She alleged that misleading the House was not confined just to the debts but also the other issues like the structural strength of the Kaleshwaram project constructed by the BRS government. She said Irrigation Minister informed the Council that the barrages were in good condition without any structural deficiencies but the Congress government on every platform had been spreading false news that the structure was totally damaged.

Ms. Kavitha said the BRS could play its role as a strong opposition cornering the government on all issues, particularly the farmers’ issues effectively. The BRS would continue to fight on behalf of the people, she said.
