Hyderabad police have busted an organised cricket betting racket, arresting three individuals involved in illegal online betting during the ongoing Indian premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
The Commissioner’s Task Force, South-East Zone, along with the Narayanguda Police, conducted the operation, seizing ₹1.32 lakh in cash and three mobile phones from the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as 41-year-old Guruvinder Singh Saluja, also known as Gourav, who acted as the main bookie; Sardar Jasvinder Singh, also known as Jessy or Likki, who operated as a sub-bookie, and 28-year-old Koppula Karthik, a punter in the betting racket.
Investigations revealed that the accused were operating an online betting network using user IDs obtained from two main bookies, Vikas, also known as Vicky, from Nanded in Maharashtra, and Mukesh from Kachiguda, Hyderabad. The accused were facilitating cricket betting through a website distributing login credentials to punters in exchange for a commission.
The racket was being run in violation of gambling laws, with the accused luring punters by offering access to the online betting platform where bets were placed on IPL matches.
