Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has praised the star batter for completing 100 half-centuries in T20 cricket, calling it as good as scoring 100 centuries in ODIs. Kohli scored his 100^th T20 fifty against Rajasthan Royals (RR) as his unbeaten innings of 62* (45) helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) chase down 174 in 17.3 overs.

Kohli became just the second player in the history of T20 cricket to register 100 fifties after David Warner. Following his half-century, Rajkumar Sharma praised Kohli for his inane consistency in T20 cricket as he hailed him as the most consistent player of the T20 format.

“Definitely, it is a big achievement. I think scoring 100 fifties is as good as scoring 100 centuries in ODIs I would say because T20 is such a format where scoring fifty is a good score and that shows his consistency. The way he has played since the beginning, he has been the most consistent batsman in the T20 format also,” Rajkumar Sharma was quoted as saying by ANI.

Kohli has scored 13, 134 runs from 405 T20s so far at an average of 41.69 with nine hundreds and 100 fifties. Furthermore, Rajkumar Sharma shared his thoughts on RCB’s chances to win IPL this year and mentioned that they do look like a good team but need to win at their homeground at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as well.

“They have depth in their bowling also and Kohli is looking good. So, let us keep our fingers crossed and hope lot of good things for RCB. It is early to say but the way they are playing they look good as a team but not winning in home conditions (lost both games so far in Bengaluru). I expect them to do well at home too,” he added.

Following their win against RR, RCB are ranked third on the points table with four wins from six matches, having eight points to their name. They will next take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 18 at their homeground, where they’ve lost both of their matches of the season so far.
