Voda Idea to launch 5G services from Mumbai today – The Times of India-OxBig News Network

NEW DELHI: Armed with fresh capital, debt-laden Vodafone Idea is finally launching 5G services from Wednesday — more than two-and-a-half years after rivals Airtel and Reliance Jio — and will roll out the high-speed network in Mumbai first, thereafter expanding to Delhi, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Patna and Mysore by end of next month.
The company said it is beginning services in cities where it has a strong population of customers with 5G mobile devices. “Currently, 5G services are prioritised in areas with high concentrations of 5G devices… Expansion will continue in alignment with the growth of 5G device adoption and service demand,” CTO Jagbir Singh said.
The company’s introductory 5G plan will offer unlimited data tariffs starting at Rs 299.
“With the launch of 5G, Vodafone Idea is strengthening its network to meet the growing demand for high bandwidth applications such as streaming, gaming and realtime cloud access,” the company said.
