Palestinian journalist along with others celebrated the announcement of ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which was going on for the past 15 months.
While Palestinians celebrated with cheers and smiles, journalist Anas al-Sharif removed his protective gear- helmet and press vest to express his happiness .
“I can finally take off this helmet, which has exhausted me all this time,” Sharif reportedly said, while surrounded by an elated crowd.

The agreement provisionally end the 15 months long conflict, ensuring the release of Israeli hostages from Gaza in exchange for Palestinian prisoners in Israel. The deal guarantees the return of displaced Gazans to their homes and secures humanitarian aid delivery to the territory.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that an agreement has been finalised for the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip, following earlier reports of last-minute complications in securing a ceasefire to halt 15 months of conflict, AFP reported.
Netanyahu confirmed he would gather his security Cabinet and subsequently the government on Friday to secure approval for the long-anticipated hostage agreement.
The early morning announcement seemingly paved the way for Israel’s endorsement of the agreement, which would suspend military operations in Gaza. The deal includes the release of dozens of hostages held by Gaza militants in exchange for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody. Additionally, it would enable hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians to return to their damaged homes in Gaza.
On Thursday, Israeli air attacks resulted in at least 72 fatalities in the conflict-affected region.
Netanyahu confirmed he had directed a dedicated team to prepare for receiving the returning hostages from Gaza, and the families of the captives had been notified about the agreement.
On Wednesday, President Joe Biden expressed his delight at the breakthrough, noting his excitement about the potential release of all hostages, whilst acknowledging the pending final approval from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet.
President-elect Donald Trump commended the development, attributing the success of the “epic” deal to his November electoral victory.
