During a film’s promotions, she appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show alongside Manoj Bajpayee and others. In this episode, Kapil asked the veteran actress to share her thoughts on her co-stars.
The Amar Prem actress praised Dharmendra as one of the most stylish actors with an incredible sense of humor. She shared that working with him was a lot of fun, along with her experience with Shashi Kapoor. Sharmila also revealed that Dharmendra, who shares the same birthday as her, was a kind person but had a habit of cracking dirty jokes. While she admitted that the jokes were quite inappropriate, she also emphasized how much fun it was to work with him.

Sharmila’s Favorite Co-Star
While Sharmila Tagore’s pairing with Rajesh Khanna in Amar Prem was adored by audiences, the actress revealed that Kaka wasn’t her favorite co-star. In the same interview, Sharmila named Sanjeev Kumar, also known as Hari Bhai, as her favorite. She fondly recalled working with him in two shifts in a single day—filming Faraar in the morning and Mausam in the evening. She described Sanjeev Kumar as a wonderful person and expressed her sorrow over his untimely death. When asked about actors who were hesitant to dance, Sharmila humorously referred to Sanjeev Kumar as a “darpok dancer” (a scared dancer).

In an interview with SCREEN, Sharmila Tagore fondly recalled her collaborations with Dharmendra in iconic films like Anupama, Satyakam, and Chupke Chupke. She shared that they both shared the same birthday and worked together in several memorable hits of the 1960s. Sharmila also revealed that they were supposed to reunite for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, but she had to step away from the project due to health issues.
