Who is Nikita Casap? US teen charged with killing parents, plotting to kill Trump

Nikita Casap, a 17-year-old from US’s Wisconsin, is facing multiple felony charges. This came after he allegedly killed his parents as part of an extreme plan to assassinate US President Donald Trump and overthrow the government, according to newly unsealed federal court documents.

Federal authorities said that Nikita Casap fatally shot his mother, Tatiana Casap, 35, and stepfather, Donald Mayer, 51, in their home on February 11. Their bodies were discovered with gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe the killings were part of Casap’s attempt to gain the “financial means and autonomy” to carry out an extremist plot targeting the president.

9 FELONY CHARGES, INCLUDING MURDER, HIDING CORPSES

Nikita Casap faces nine felony charges in Waukesha County, including two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, two counts of hiding a corpse, identity theft and theft of property over USD 10,000 (approx Rs 8.6 lakh). He is also under federal investigation for conspiracy to assassinate the president and the attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.

He was initially arrested in Kansas by the WaKeeney Police Department after allegedly stealing his stepfather’s SUV and possessing a firearm.

NIKITA CASAP’S EXTREMIST IDEOLOGY AND PLAN

According to a federal affidavit cited by CNN affiliate WISN, Casap had written documents and text messages in which he called for the assassination of Trump and the overthrow of the US government. The affidavit stated that Casap’s phone had content linked to the neo-Nazi group “The Order of Nine Angles”, reportedly a “network of individuals holding new-Nazi racially motivated extremist views”.

It also claims that he participated in communications about planning a violent revolution.

As per CNN, an excerpt from a three-page document found by the FBI reads, “As to why, specifically Trump, I think it’s pretty obvious. By getting rid of the president and perhaps the vice president, that is guaranteed to bring in some chaos.” The document also contained images of Adolf Hitler along with the text- “HAIL HITLER, HAIL THE WHITE RACE, HAIL VICTORY.”

One of the other documents also refers to his justification for violence as a way to “save the white races from Jewish-controlled politicians”.

Nikita Casap appeared in court for a preliminary hearing on April 9 and remains in custody on a USD 1 million bond (approx Rs 8.6 crore). He is scheduled to return to court where charges against him will be read on May 7.
