Swedish police confirmed on Tuesday that five people were shot in an attack at a school in the city of Orebro, located approximately 200 kilometres (125 miles) west of Stockholm. The incident prompted a large-scale emergency response, with ambulances, rescue services, and police rushing to the scene.
“Five persons are confirmed shot,” police said in an official statement, adding that the case is currently being investigated as “attempted murder, arson, and an aggravated weapons offence”.
Students have been moved to nearby buildings for shelter, while other parts of the school were evacuated following the violence.
