BBC joins French troops on Lebanon peacekeeping operation

The BBC was given uncommon entry to an operation by French troops, a part of the UN peacekeeping power in Lebanon generally known as Unifil, as they looked for positions that had been utilized by the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah to hold out assaults in opposition to Israel.

As a part of a ceasefire reached in November that ended 13 months of battle, Hezbollah agreed to take away its fighters and weapons from southern Lebanon.

According to Kandice Ardial, Unifil deputy spokesperson, the primary violations of the deal are “from the Israeli facet”.

She talked about frequent Israeli air strikes, fixed infiltrations of Lebanese air area by Israeli drones and fighter jets, in addition to the presence of Israeli troopers in 5 factors inside Lebanon.

Israel says it’s attacking Hezbollah members and positions, and that the presence of its troopers is to ensure the safety of northern Israeli communities.

The Lebanese authorities says this can be a breach of the settlement and a violation of the nation’s sovereignty, and has urged the worldwide neighborhood to place strain on Israel to withdraw its troops from these areas and cease its assaults.
