The Pentagon said that US President Joe Biden has decided to increase military presence in West Asia to protect Israel from possible attacks by Iran and its allies and to ensure the safety of American soldiers. Under this, a squadron of American fighter planes and warships has started forming a circle around Israel to protect it.
The Pentagon said in a statement that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has also ordered the deployment of additional ballistic missile-equipped ships and destroyers in the European and West Asian regions. Apart from this, Austin is also taking steps towards sending additional ground-attack ballistic missiles there. The US has decided to increase its military presence in West Asia at a time when American leaders have expressed concern that the killing of top Hamas and Hezbollah commanders in recent Israeli attacks could increase violence in the region, as both militant groups as well as Iran have threatened to retaliate.
