Priyanka Gandhi Meets Palestine Envoy: Reaffirms Support for Freedom and Peace in Gaza

Priyanka Gandhi met with the Charge d’Affaires of the Palestine Embassy, Dr. Abed Elrazeg Abu Jazer at her residence. Dr. Abu Jazer congratulated Mrs Gandhi on her victory as a Member of Parliament for Wayanad in the 18th Lok Sabha.

During the meeting, Mrs. Gandhi reaffirmed her unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s aspirations for freedom and independence. She reflected on her deep connection to the Palestinian cause, recalling her childhood interactions with iconic leader Yasser Arafat during his visits to meet former Indian leaders, Indira and Rajiv Gandhi.

Mrs. Gandhi condemned the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza and expressed grief over the destruction, particularly the targeted attacks on civilians and the tragic loss of children and women. Offering condolences to grieving mothers, she underscored the importance of international solidarity.

Dr. Abu Jazer emphasised India’s pivotal role in West Asia, urging New Delhi to facilitate a ceasefire, support Palestine’s reconstruction, and engage in peace-building initiatives. He praised India’s historical ties with Palestine and its political legacy of supporting just causes. Highlighting Palestinian admiration for India’s global stature, he called for Indian involvement in developmental projects critical to Gaza’s rebuilding efforts and alleviating the humanitarian crisis.
