Puppet show: Elon Musk mocks Democrats over coordinated social media posts

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has criticized the Democratic Party after over 50 congressional leaders posted identical tweets regarding a government funding extension. Musk mocked the uniform messaging, calling it a “ridiculous puppet show.”

On Wednesday, numerous Democratic leaders in Congress shared the same message on X (formerly Twitter), supporting a four-week funding extension to prevent a government shutdown. The tweet stated:

“House Democrats stand united for a four-week funding extension that stops harmful cuts, keeps the government open, and allows Congress to reach a bipartisan funding agreement. I am ready to vote today, tomorrow or Friday to pass a four-week extension.”

Elon Musk responded by sharing a video that scrolled through 50 identical tweets, expressing his disapproval. He commented: “You can see the ridiculous political puppet show for what it really is. They are just actors reading a script.”

He further joked that the entire Democratic Party might be relying on just one social media intern to coordinate these posts. Elon Musk’s joke about a single intern.

Why did Democrats post identical tweets?

The Democratic Party’s coordinated messaging comes as they oppose a Republican-backed stopgap funding bill. A funding deal must be reached by the end of the week to avoid a government shutdown. Prominent Democrats who participated in this identical tweet campaign include Mark Takano, Bobby Scott, Shontel Brown, Debbie Dingell, Mark Pocan, and Sarah McBride.

This is not the first time Musk has taken a dig over coordinated social media posts by the Dems. He made similar statements after several Democrat leaders, including Senators Elizabeth Warren and Chuck Schumer, posted identical videos earlier this month condemning Trump’s campaign promises.
