Cannes confronted a citywide energy lower on Saturday, disrupting the celebrated movie pageant and shutting eating places, and companies.
French police are investigating suspected arson as the reason for the outage, after a a substation within the village of Tanneron, which provides Cannes, was attacked by arsonists within the early hours.
Despite the disruption, the Cannes Film Festival was in a position to make use of non-public turbines to renew the pageant – earlier than energy was restored at 15:00 (14:00 BST).
