Total authorization granted: Trump says ICE can arrest anyone who attacks officers

US President Donald Trump issued a directive authorising US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and other federal officers to immediately arrest and detain individuals who assault law enforcement with rocks, bricks, or similar projectiles. “I am giving Total Authorization for ICE to protect itself, just like they protect the Public,” Trump said in a statement posted on Truth Social. “AUTHORIZATION IMMEDIATELY GRANTED FOR ARREST AND INCARCERATION.”

Trump’s comments followed what he described as a violent attack on ICE officers. According to Trump, individuals he labeled as “thugs” were seen throwing rocks and bricks at official vehicles.

“I watched in disbelief as THUGS were violently throwing rocks and bricks at ICE Officers,” he wrote. “Tremendous damage was done to these brand-new vehicles.”

Trump expressed outrage over what he called a broader lack of respect for law enforcement, declaring that he had instructed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and “Border Czar” Tom Homan to empower officers to act decisively.

“I never want to see a car carrying a Law Enforcement Officer attacked again!” he added. “These SLIMEBALLS must be arrested using whatever means is necessary.”

“I know for a fact that these Officers are having a hard time with allowing this to happen in that it shows such total disrespect for LAW AND ORDER,” he said.
