Trump announces end to 12-day war as Israel, Iran agree to complete ceasefire

US President Donald Trump declared that Israel and Iran have reached a ‘complete and total ceasefire’ agreement, effectively ending what he called the “12-Day War.”

In a Truth Social post, Trump said, “Congratulations to everyone! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a complete and total ceasefire.”

According to Trump, the ceasefire will begin in approximately six hours, after both countries complete their “final missions.” Iran will initiate the ceasefire, and Israel will follow 12 hours later. The war will be officially considered over after 24 hours.

Trump said, “The official end to the 12-day war will be saluted by the world.” He emphasised that “during each ceasefire, the other side will remain peaceful and respectful.” He also congratulated both countries, saying, “On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran.”

The US president praised Israel and Iran for their “stamina, courage, and intelligence” in ending the conflict. He said, “This is a war that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will!”

“God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!” he added.

This comes after Iran launched missile attacks on US military bases in Qatar and Iraq. President Donald Trump called the response “very weak” and “expected.” In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump confirmed that Iran had launched 14 missiles following what he called the “obliteration” of Iranian nuclear facilities by the US and its allies. Of those, 13 were intercepted and one was allowed to proceed after being assessed as non-threatening.

Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s blasted US aggression in the region. He posted an image of a burning American flag on a pole, set against a backdrop of a war-torn area with burning buildings and a dark, smoky sky, along with the caption: “We didn’t harm anyone. And we will not accept any harassment from anyone under any circumstances. And we will not submit to anyone’s harassment. This is the logic of the Iranian nation.”
