Trump hints Biden administration tried to meddle in Indian polls through USAID

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday claimed that the previous government, headed by Joe Biden, may have meddled in the Indian elections, aiming at increasing “voter turnout” and trying to “get someone else elected”.

Speaking at the FII Priority Summit in Miami, Trump claimed that the Biden administration spent USD 21 million on voter turnout in India. “I guess they (Biden administration) were trying to get somebody else elected. We have got to tell the Indian Government. This is a total breakthrough,” Trump said.

Trump said that India did not need that much money from USAID, saying the country has a lot more money.

In the general elections 2024, Prime Minister Modi won a historic third consecutive mandate with the NDA alliance led by the BJP winning 292 seats.
