Kolkata-born US-based doctor Dr Ananda Bandyopadhyay, identified for his vital contributions to India’s polio elimination efforts and measles surveillance initiatives, has been awarded the celebrated IVI–SK Bioscience Park MahnHoon Award.
Bandyopadhyay, 45, of Gates Foundation, was collectively honoured with Professor Pierre Van Damme of the University of Antwerp.
The duo was recognised for his or her groundbreaking work in vaccine analysis, notably the event and deployment of a novel oral polio vaccine.
The International Vaccine Institute (IVI), the world’s solely worldwide organisation devoted completely to the invention, improvement, and supply of vaccines for international well being, held the 2025 IVI-SK Bioscience Park MahnHoon Award Ceremony on April 30.
“It’s nice to obtain such a prestigious award. It might be an enormous increase for future analysis. This recognition is a tribute to the worldwide partnership and crew effort devoted to eradicating polio,” Bandyopadhyay informed PTI from Seattle.
