US radio host Charlamagne tha God expressed frustration over people celebrating UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s cold-blooded murder and hailing Luigi Mangione, the man accused of executing the planned killing.
On his show The Breakfast Club, he said, “I don’t understand why people are celebrating him being killed.”
He further added that Mangione has nothing to do with improving the lives of ordinary Americans or even the health care system, “The health care system is still the same today.”
“The health companies still denying claims and everything today. So what did that accomplish, and why are you happy about him being gunned down like that?,” as per the New York Post.
Thompson’s killing on December 4th received mixed reactions, many were horrified, while cheered, seeing it as a way to slam out at the healthcare industry. Some even called the accused shooter, Luigi Mangione, a hero and offered to help with his legal fees.
Psychologist’s insights
Manhattan psychologist Dr. Chloe Carmichael said,“There’s a level of grandiosity in his decision that his own opinions would merit his complete disregard for some of the most basic laws of our society.”
New York psychotherapist Alyson Cohen compared Mangione to serial killers like Ted Bundy and Charles Cohen and said “Antisocial personality disorder is when people lack the ability to have empathy and compassion for other humans.” He also explained that a cold-blooded killer’s actions emerge from a complete lack of emotional consideration.”
Experts noted that Mangione’s social media posts, along with a brief manifesto found on him after his arrest, revealed a disjointed ideology that mixed criticism of capitalism with rants against wokeness.
Mangione’s arrest
Luigi Mangione was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in connection with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Authorities believe the killing was fueled by Mangione’s deep frustration with the insurance industry. The attack occurred while Thompson was walking to a conference in Manhattan.
Upon his arrest, Mangione was found with several fake IDs, a US passport, and writings about the insurance industry, including a manifesto that expressed admiration for Michael Moore’s critical views on healthcare.
