Court’s Verdict on Maniac’s Lyrics
Luvkush Kumar, who filed the petition against Honey Singh’s song Maniac, claimed that its Bhojpuri lyrics objectified women. However, the court, led by Chief Justice DK Upadhyay and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, ruled that obscenity is not tied to any religion.
Legal Perspective on Obscenity
According to The Hindu, the court dismissed the claim that Bhojpuri lyrics were specifically vulgar, stating that obscenity is not tied to any language, religion, or region. The judges explained that such matters fall under private law, and if someone finds content obscene, they can file an FIR or a legal complaint.
