Yuzi Chahal gets MS Dhoni’s bat, but Glenn Maxwell trolls him: You are always subbed-OxBig News Network

Yuzvendra Chahal was massively trolled by his Punjab Kings teammate Glenn Maxwell as he was able to get a bat from MS Dhoni ahead of their clash with the Chennai Super Kings on April 30. Chahal got his ODI cap from Dhoni in 2016 and has shared a close bond with the CSK legend over the years.

Ahead of the clash on Wednesday, Chahal was able to get his hands on one of Dhoni’s prized bats and returned to the Punjab dressing room to show off. Maxwell was present in the room and asked if it was from the CSK legend.

Maxwell quickly asked, “What are you going to do with it?”

Chahal replied with some shadow batting and saying that he will bat using the willow gifted to him by Dhoni. To this Maxwell had a hilarious response, reminding the leg-spinner that he is the one who is usually subbed out during matches.

“You get subbed out in every game,” said Maxwell.

Priyansh Arya, who was also in the room, joked that some kid in Haryana would surely take it away from Chahal.

“Some kid in Haryana is going to take this bat for sure,” joked Priyansh.

When Dhoni told Chahal not to call him sir

During an interview in 2018, Chahal recalled how Dhoni told him not to call him sir. The leg-spinner revealed how Dhoni called him over politely and told him not to address him as sir.

“I received the ODI cap from the great MS Dhoni. He is a legend and I was with him for the first time. I was not even able to talk in front of him. He talks so nicely that you wonder if he is really Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the legend.”

“When I met him for the first time in Zimbabwe I used called him Mahi Sir. After a while he called me over and said, ‘Mahi, Dhoni, Mahendra Singh Dhoni or Bhai… Call me whatever you want but not sir’,” said Chahal.
